This week, we are reporting on a significant increase in Uzbekistan’s international cargo and transit volumes, growth in Kazakhstan’s annual air passenger traffic and more.

FlyArystan is set to resume direct passenger flights
Kazakh low-cost carrier FlyArystan scheduled the resumption of direct passenger flights ex Almaty, Kazakhstan to Samarkand, Uzbekistan on 21 March 2026
The airline will operate the route twice weekly VV using Airbus A320 aircraft
Kazakhstan reported growth in annual air passenger traffic volume
The nation’s airports handled 15.4 million passengers in 2025, marking 4.8% year-on-year increase, with Almaty Airport serving as the busiest hub with nearly 6.3 million travelers
Astana Airport traffic rose 5.9% to 4.3 million, whereas Shymkent Airport recorded 1.8% passenger decline but achieved an 18.9% surge in cargo throughput
Somon Air reported annual traffic growth and fleet expansion
Tajikistan-based carrier Somon Air transported 1.092 million passengers in 2025 representing 8.6% year-on-year increase across 3,744 flights
The airline plans to introduce two Boeing 737 MAX 8 aircrafts to launch new routes to London, Riyadh, Beijing, Guangzhou and Seoul
Air Astana Group secured long-term component support agreement
The airline group signed a Power-by-the-Hour contract with AJW Group covering component supply for 56 Airbus A320 family aircraft operated by Air Astana and FlyArystan
AJW Group will support the fleet including A320neo and ceo models through its facilities in Montreal, Canada and Amsterdam, the Netherlands expanding upon an existing partnership that covers the carrier's Boeing 767 aircraft
Uzbekistan Airways is set to connect Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan

Uzbekistan and China agreed to establish logistics base in Tashkent
The Tashkent Industrial Zone Management Directorate and the Shihezi National Economic Zone signed a memorandum to create a logistics base and an exhibition center in the Uzbek capital
The agreement stipulates increased trade between industrial zone residents, the organization of regular business missions and the attraction of investment
Uzbekistan reports significant increase in international cargo and transit volumes
The Ministry of Transport recorded over 2.8 million tons of international freight traffic led by a surge on the China-Kyrgyzstan-Uzbekistan route to 1.8 million tons in 2025
Authorities designated 24 logistics centers as international dry ports and implemented the e-Permit system with Kyrgyzstan and Azerbaijan to streamline cross-border operations
