Welcome to this week's edition of Uzbekistan Air Cargo Notes, the first and only newsletter focusing on the latest news and insights into the dynamic air cargo market of Uzbekistan and Central Asia. It's been another busy week with the first-ever charter flight from Uzbekistan to Goa and Uzbekistan Airways plans to operate direct flights to Canada. Read on to find out more.

Uzbekistan Airways plans to launch passenger flights to Canada (source)

During the 15th ICAO Air Services Negotiation Event (ICAN2023) in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, Uzbekistan Airways (HY) announced plans to operate passenger regular flights to Canada in 2025

The aviation authorities of Uzbekistan and Canada have mutually agreed to grant each other the first and second freedom of air

Uzbekistan Ministry of Transport claims that such decision is aimed at strengthening ties between Uzbekistan and the North American continent

 

Centrum Air's first charter flight to Goa (source)

Centrum Air operated the first-ever charter flight ex Tashkent to Goa, landing at Manohar International Airport (GOX) on 7 December 2023

The passenger charter flights will operate weekly until 21 March 2024

 

Air Samarkand to launch passenger flights to new destinations (source)

Air Samarkand plans to initiate charter flights from Samarkand to cities in Turkey, Vietnam, Malaysia, Indonesia, and China within the next 12 months

The airline has already acquired Airbus A330-300 wide-body aircraft, dedicated to servicing long and medium-haul routes

Central Asia as a logistics hub between Asia and Europe (source)

During the Central Asia - Republic of Korea Expert Forum, the Secretary to the President of the Republic of Korea Wang Yun-jong recognized the strategic importance of Central Asia and expanded cooperation in such sectors as supply chains, transport and logistics, etc

Wang Yin-jong also emphasized that over the past 30 years, trade between South Korea and Central Asia has increased 600-fold, reaching $9.2 billion in 2022, and Korean direct investment in the region now exceeds $6 billion which positively influences collaboration between Central Asian regions and South Korea
