Tajikistan’s Somon Air reports steady passenger growth
Tajikistan’s flag carrier Somon Air recorded 11% year-on-year rise in passenger numbers, carrying 826,000 travelers on both international and domestic routes in the first nine months of 2025
The privately owned airline plans to expand its fleet with two new Boeing 737 MAX 8 aircraft in 2026, launching flights to London, Riyadh, Beijing, Guangzhou, and Seoul
Uzbekistan’s airlines set ambitious growth targets by 2030
Uzbekistan plans to double its fleet to 180 aircrafts and increase annual passenger traffic to 24 million by 2030, under a presidential decree adopted on 27 October 2025
The government will allocate 21 million US dollars annually from 2026 to 2028 to modernize air traffic control systems and upgrade airport infrastructure, including completing the first phase of the new Tashkent International Airport
Air Serbia considers launching flights to Uzbekistan
Air Serbia is exploring direct flights from Belgrade to either Tashkent or Samarkand, with the final choice depending on commercial feasibility
The plan follows talks between President of Serbia Aleksandar Vučić of Serbia and President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev on 28 October 2025, aimed at strengthening trade and air connectivity between the two countries
Centrum Air launched direct passenger flights to Bukhara
Uzbek private airline Centrum Air launched direct passenger flights ex Vladivostok, Russia to Bukhara, Uzbekistan on 6 November 2025
The airline now operates the route once weekly on Thursdays using Airbus A321neo aircraft

Pakistan and Uzbekistan to expand rail connectivity
Pakistan plans to enhance regional rail links with Central Asia through new agreements with Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan, aiming to connect via Chaman, Pakistan to the broader Eurasian network
The project is part of Pakistan’s strategy to integrate with international transport corridors, providing new trade routes to Uzbekistan, Russia and Europe once operations begin by the end of 2025
