YTO Cargo connects China and Kyrgyzstan
Chinese cargo airline YTO operated the first C909F freighter flight ex China to Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan on 16 July 2025
The launch marks the start of regular charter flights and enhances bilateral cargo cooperation
Passenger traffic growth slows down in Kazakhstan
From January to June 2025, Kazakhstan’s air passenger numbers rose by 6.1%, a sharp drop from 14.8% growth during the same period in 2024
Almaty Airport led with 2.9 million passengers, while cargo volumes increased by 13.2% to 14,000 tons
Centrum Air expands A321neo fleet in Uzbekistan
Privately-owned Uzbek airline Centrum Air received its third Airbus A321neo becoming the largest private operator of the type in Uzbekistan on 19 July 2025
The airline now operates a fleet of 11 aircraft and plans to expand to 21 by the end of 2026
Shymkent Airport sees passenger growth in 2025
Shymkent International Airport in Kazakhstan served more than 709,000 passengers in the first half of 2025, marking a 30% increase compared to the same period in 2024
Growth is driven by expanded routes, improved infrastructure and the launch of Terminal A in December 2024
Air China launched direct passenger flights to Uzbekistan
Chinese carrier Air China launched direct regular passenger flights ex Beijing and Urumqi, China to Tashkent, Uzbekistan VV on 19 - 22 July 2025
Flights operate three times a week using Boeing 737-800 and MAX-8 aircraft
SCAT receives new Boeing at Shymkent Airport
Kazakh airline SCAT took delivery of a new Boeing 737 MAX-8 ex Seattle, USA to Shymkent, Kazakhstan on 23 July 2025
The aircraft is the fourth MAX-8 in the fleet and will support the airline’s long-haul network expansion from its southern hub
Uzbekistan and Russia to expand flight connections
Uzbekistan and Russia have reached an agreement to allow over 1,000 regular weekly flights between the two countries
The expanded capacity could support over 16 million passengers annually if flight frequencies are fully utilized

Regional freight traffic rises sharply in Central Asia
Cargo volumes between Russia, Uzbekistan and Kyrgyzstan grew by 1.5 times in the first half of 2025, driven by stronger trade ties and industrial cooperation
Uzbekistan mainly exports furniture and textiles, while Kyrgyzstan supplies fruits and electrical equipment
First multimodal freight train departs from China to Uzbekistan
The first freight train on the China–Kyrgyzstan–Uzbekistan multimodal route departed from Wuhan, China on 17 July 2025
The new route is expected to cut delivery time from Hubei to Uzbekistan in half and reduce transport and insurance costs by 30%
