Background

Uzbekistan is home to a spectacular environment with mountains, waterfalls and beautiful greenery. However, preserving these natural treasures requires active effort and community involvement.


On 29 April 2023, Delta Global Solutions organized a large-scale CSR Cleaning Mountains event in the mountains of Aktash, Uzbekistan. The event was designed not only to clean up the area but also to foster a sense of responsibility toward nature among the younger generation and professionals alike.


Challenge: Environmental Sustainability Initiatives and Awareness

Natural sites often face the challenge of pollution due to increased tourism and lack of awareness. The primary challenge was to organize a CSR event that went beyond simple cleanup, it needed to be an engaging experience that educated participants about the importance of recycling and protecting the planet. The goal was to battle climate change by encouraging ecologically responsible behavior and ensuring that the collected waste was properly recycled rather than dumped. Additionally, there was a logistical challenge to transport and manage a large group of participants for a full day of hiking and work.


Solution: Cleaning Mountains CSR Initiative in Uzbekistan

Delta Global Solutions structured a multi-departmental rotation program that allowed participants to step into the shoes of our experts. Instead of watching from the sidelines, the Young Leaders became part of the working process. Throughout the program, our participants immersed themselves in key business functions, taking on the following roles:


  • Partnership: We collaborated with key partners including the American Chamber of Commerce in Uzbekistan (AmCham), Korzinka, Tashkent International Clinic (TIC) and Tashkent International School (TIS)

  • Engagement: The event was structured as a "Cleaning Mountains Race" turning the cleanup into a team competition to collect the most trash. This made the process fun and competitive

  • Logistics: Delta Global Solutions provided transportation, "Protect Planet" t-shirts, caps, eco-bags, gloves and trash bags for all participants. Korzinka contributed by providing food and water for the volunteers

  • Activity: The day included arrival in Aktash, hiking to the camping point, a snack time sponsored by Korzinka, a hike to the waterfall and the cleaning race itself


Results & Impact

The initiative was a major success, with the number of attendees surpassing expectations to reach 70 participants. The primary goal was fulfilled as a significant amount of trash was collected and recycled within the framework of the event.

  • Walid from Tashkent International School shared: "The event was well organized... Korzinka's sponsored snack was a very kind touch. We enjoyed the event and are looking forward to cleaning the mountain again".

  • Abdulqodir from Korzinka added: "It was amazing! I had a wonderful and useful time cleaning mountains".


To celebrate the participants' hard work and foster a spirit of friendly competition, the event featured a "Cleaning Mountains Race" challenging teams to collect the maximum amount of waste for recycling. The event concluded with a "Winners Awarding" ceremony where the most effective teams were recognized. Prizes for the race included eco-bags from Delta Global Solutions as well as certificates and special awards, provided with the support of partners like Tashkent International Clinic. Special gifts were also distributed to all attendees, ensuring everyone felt valued for their contribution to a cleaner planet.


Conclusion

Corporate Social Responsibility is central to Delta Global Solutions’ mission. The "Cleaning Mountains" CSR event demonstrated that when businesses, educational institutions and individuals come together, they can create a tangible positive impact on the environment. By successfully collecting and recycling waste from the Aktash mountains, we not only improved the local ecosystem but also inspired participants to become ambassadors for nature.
