Welcome to this week's edition of Uzbekistan Air Cargo Notes, the first and only newsletter focusing on the latest news and insights into the dynamic air cargo market of Uzbekistan and Central Asia. This week, we are reporting on S7 Airlines launching flights to Uzbekistan, Centrum Air expanding its widebody fleet and more.
Air Cargo Trends
S7 Airlines to launch flights to Uzbekistan
Russia’s S7 Airlines will launch direct regular passenger flights ex Novosibirsk, Russia to Andijan, Uzbekistan VV on 27 October 2025. Flights will also operate ex Irkutsk, Russia to Andijan, Uzbekistan VV starting 30 October 2025
All flights will be operated weekly using Airbus A320 and Boeing 737-800 aircrafts
Kazakhstan delays flights to the U.S.
Direct flights ex Kazakhstan to New York by the country’s largest airline, Air Astana, have been postponed until 2027 due to further delays in the delivery of Boeing 787-9 aircraft from U.S. company Air Lease Corporation
Despite the setback, Kazakhstan’s air network continues to grow, with 36 new international routes launched in 2025 and additional services to Singapore, Tokyo, Rome and Vienna scheduled for 2026
Centrum Air expanded its widebody fleet
Uzbekistan’s largest private airline Centrum Air has added a third Airbus A330-300, the biggest aircraft in its fleet with 358 all-economy seats arrived on 6 September 2025
The jet will serve long-haul routes including Seoul, Guangzhou and Bangkok, as well as high-demand destinations such as Istanbul, Jeddah and Medina
Kazakhstan plans major fleet growth
The country’s commercial fleet is projected to reach 216 aircraft by 2030, nearly doubling from today’s 104 according to Deputy Minister of Transport Maksat Kaliakparov
Air Astana, FlyArystan, SCAT Airlines, Qazaq Air and Alpha Sky are all set to expand driving future demand for aircraft maintenance and repair services
Air Astana and Air India signed codeshare agreement
Air Astana and Air India have signed a codeshare agreement covering Air Astana’s routes ex Almaty, Kazakhstan to Delhi and Mumbai, India VV in September 2025
The partnership builds on an interline agreement signed earlier in 2025, giving Air Astana access to 27 Air India destinations and Air India passengers access to multiple cities in Central Asia and China via Almaty

Uzbekistan and Moldova plan to ease cargo transport rules
A new agreement will remove the need for permits for bilateral and transit road freight between Uzbekistan and Moldova, simplifying conditions for national carriers of both countries starting in early 2026 year
The deal signed following a joint transport commission meeting is expected to improve export logistics stability and support Uzbekistan’s wider strategy of diversifying routes and creating alternative corridors
Kazakhstan Railways continues freight car fleet renewal
Kazakhstan Temir Zholy (KTZ), the national railway company, is phasing out life-extended freight cars and investing in new rolling stock. At the beginning of 2025, Kazakhstan had about 142,000 freight cars, with an average age of 15 years, including 39,000 owned by KTZ
Five domestic wagon-building plants have the combined capacity to produce up to 12,000 modern freight cars annually, supporting the nationwide fleet renewal strategy and enhancing safety and reliability
