Hong Kong Airport signed agreements with Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan

  • Airport Authority Hong Kong signed MoUs with Uzbekistan Airports and Shymkent Airport, Kazakhstan under the Belt and Road Initiative

  • Agreements aim to support new routes, flight frequency growth and aviation training cooperation


Kazakhstan’s SCAT Airlines has expanded its fleet with a new aircraft delivery

  • Kazakhstan’s SCAT Airlines received its 10th Boeing 737MAX, a MAX-8 delivered to Shymkent on 14 September 2025

  • The airline plans further fleet growth with two more MAX-8s by the end of 2025 and additional deliveries through 2028


Air Astana faces challenge with U.S. flights

  • Kazakhstan’s Air Astana cannot launch nonstop services to New York without access to Russian airspace

  • The airline plans to use Boeing 787-9s from 2026, but U.S. routes may require a European stopover


Kazakhstan shows progress in aviation security audit

  • Preliminary ICAO audit results highlight Kazakhstan’s strong indicators in aviation security and facilitation

  • Final results, including updated security ranking, will be released on 15 November 2025


Tashkent Airport is set to upgrade its arrivals area

  • Uzbekistan Airports announced plans to reconstruct the arrivals zone with a second overpass for cars and a 330-space parking lot, including EV charging stations

  • The first stage is set for completion by the end of October 2025, followed by integration of arrival and departure terminals


Namangan Airport is set to build new terminals

  • Cargo terminal with a daily capacity of 50,000 tons will be built by 2026, boosting exports and transit through the Fergana Valley in Uzbekistan

  • Construction of a new passenger terminal is also underway to handle growing traffic and international tourism

Uzbekistan launches new multimodal cargo route to China

  • The first container train departed from Tashkent to Lanzhou via Kyrgyzstan and Kashgar, opening a direct link with China’s Gansu province

  • The route will cut delivery times and strengthen Uzbekistan’s transit potential in Central Asia


Uzbekistan fully implements three-step export system on rail

  • A new digital system has replaced the old nine-step export process with just three steps, making customs clearance faster and helping businesses save up to UZS 20 bn a year on brokerage services

  • In the first eight months of 2025, more than 516,000 freight railcars were processed under the system, 12% increase compared to last year
