Air Astana Group is set to expand flights to Azerbaijan and China
Kazakhstan's Air Astana Group is set to resume direct passenger flights ex Almaty, Kazakhstan to Baku, Azerbaijan on 15 March 2026 and boost FlyArystan passenger flights ex Almaty to Yining, China on 29 March 2026
Flights will operate up to four times weekly on each route using Airbus A320 family fleet
Centrum Air takes the lead in Central Asian widebody jets
The private Uzbek airline took delivery of its fourth Airbus A330-300, bringing its total mixed fleet to 15 aircraft with a target of 21 by the end of 2026
The latest acquisition positions the carrier as the largest operator of A330 long-haul jets in the region, surpassing local and regional competitors
Uzbek carriers expand maintenance partnerships
Air Samarkand and FlyOne Asia signed agreements with Jordan-based MRO provider Joramco to perform heavy base maintenance on their Airbus A320-family aircraft in Amman, Jordan
The partnership highlights the MRO provider's expanding footprint in the rapidly developing Central Asian aviation market, adding to its existing services for fellow private Uzbek carrier Qanot Sharq
My Freighter expands Chinese partnership
Central Asia's largest air cargo carrier signed an interline agreement with China Southern Airlines, marking its fifth partnership in the Chinese market
The deal enhances routing flexibility along the Central Asia-China corridor and adds to the Tashkent-based carrier's diverse global network and growing fleet of nine Boeing freighters

Tajikistan and Uzbekistan piloted new transport corridor
Two countries launched a pilot project for a multimodal route connecting China to Europe via Turkmenistan, Iran, and Türkiye, featuring an initial trial run of 10 trucks utilizing electronic permits
To enhance transit capacity, the partners plan to modernize the Jartepa-Sarazm border crossing by establishing a new logistics hub capable of processing 100 trucks daily, alongside integrated commercial and medical facilities
Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan are set to expand rail capacity
The transport ministries of the two countries are negotiating a plan to increase cross-border railway freight volumes by 86% across multiple checkpoints
The strategy involves significantly boosting daily train operations at existing border crossings and adding new capacity, building upon the 32.3 million tons of bilateral rail freight recorded in 2025
