Air Cargo Trends
Kazakhstan’s Air Astana confirmed major fleet expansion
Air Astana Group has signed an Memorandum of Understanding for up to 50 Airbus A320neo family aircraft, including 25 firm units and 25 purchase options, with deliveries starting in 2031
Most aircrafts are designated as A321LR to support long-range network growth across Asia and Europe, marking the airline’s largest fleet order
Uzbekistan’s airports show continued growth
Uzbekistan’s airports handled 12.68 million passengers in the first 10 months of 2025, up 14% year-on-year, including 10.39 million international and 2.29 million domestic travelers
Cargo and mail throughput reached 78,450 tons, showing 12% growth, while airport flight operations increased 13% over the same period
SCAT Airlines is set to launch new routes to Uzbekistan
Kazakh privately held airline SCAT Airlines is set to operate direct passenger flights ex Turkestan, Kazakhstan to Urgench, Bukhara and Samarkand, Uzbekistan starting in December 2025
Flights will operate three times a week on each route using 50-seat Bombardier CRJ-200 regional jets
Fly Khiva delays fleet expansion
Uzbek airline Fly Khiva now expects to receive three new aircraft in 2026, including two Boeing 757 narrowbodies and one Boeing 767 widebody
The carrier is also negotiating with Boeing to acquire two Boeing 737MAX jets in 2027, potentially becoming Uzbekistan’s first operator of this type
My Freighter launches cargo flights ex China to Tashkent
My Freighter subsidiary of Uzbekistan’s Centrum Air, has started cargo operations ex Wenzhou Longwan Airport, China to Tashkent, Uzbekistan, using Boeing 767 freighters
The route was launched ahead of major Chinese shopping events, with the first shipment of 50 tons of cargo already delivered to Tashkent

Container train traffic from China grows via Kazakhstan
Since the start of 2025, 292 container trains have traveled from China through Kazakhstan on the Trans-Caspian International Transport Route (TITR)
Container transport between Kazakhstan and China has grown rapidly over the past 10 years, reaching 1.4 million TEU, with strong growth also along the Middle Corridor
Southern Eurasian rail corridor set for expansion
Iran, China, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan and Turkiye signed an agreement in Istanbul to expand freight rail traffic along the southern route of the Eurasian transit corridor, including unified tariffs, faster transit times and reduced customs costs
The deal also covers infrastructure modernization to increase corridor capacity and strengthen the southern route’s role in trade between China and Europe with Iran serving as a key transit hub
