Uzbekistan prepares tender for new Bukhara airport
The government is preparing a Request for Qualifications (RfQ) to attract a new private investor to build and operate the passenger terminal and related commercial infrastructure under a public-private partnership
Valued at $226 million, the project aims to triple the hub's current capacity to handle up to 1,600 passengers per hour, while the airfield itself will remain under state management
Uzbekistan and Tajikistan resume Middle East flights
Following a period of repatriation-only services due to regional conflict, multiple carriers in Uzbekistan and Tajikistan have restarted scheduled passenger flights to the UAE and Saudi Arabia
In contrast, Kazakhstan's Air Astana Group has canceled its flights to Dubai through the end of March, having previously focused on evacuating passengers via neighboring Oman
Asman Airlines adds medium-haul Airbus jets to fleet
State-owned Airports of Kyrgyzstan signed an agreement with BBAM to purchase two Airbus A321ceo jets for its subsidiary, marking the regional carrier's transition into medium-haul operations
The airline plans to acquire a total of ten A321s over five years to expand its network across the CIS, Middle East, and Europe, supporting the country's ongoing efforts to exit the EU aviation blacklist
Uzbekistan Airports partners with Malaysia's MASkargo
The state airport operator and the cargo division of Malaysia Airlines agreed to collaborate on freight handling, marking the partnership with an inaugural technical stop on a Kuala Lumpur-Tashkent-Amsterdam route
The new cooperation aims to significantly boost Tashkent Airport's transit capabilities and solidify Uzbekistan's growing position as a key regional logistics hub

Uzbekistan records steady growth in container rail freight
Container shipments reached 100,000 TEU in 2025, largely driven by the development of the China-Kyrgyzstan-Uzbekistan multimodal transport corridor and wider adoption of container-based logistics
The sector's expansion contributed to the country's overall rail freight volume hitting 107.9 million tons last year, representing a 5.1% increase compared to 2024
