Uzbekistan becomes top air cargo hub in Central Asia
Uzbekistan captured nearly 44% of Central Asia’s air cargo market in 2024, surpassing Kazakhstan’s 38.6%
Kazakhstan still leads in transit cargo with over half of regional flows, supported by its location and lower fuel costs
Fly Khiva is set to expand its fleet
Uzbek airline Fly Khiva plans to grow its fleet from three to eight aircraft, with up to three new deliveries expected by the end of this year
Fly Khiva operates cargo flights ex Hong Kong to Europe and is pursuing certification to launch services ex mainland China
SCAT Airlines becomes Kazakhstan’s largest carrier by fleet
SCAT received another Boeing 737MAX-8, bringing its fleet to 35 aircraft and surpassing Air Astana’s 34 in September 2025
Air Astana plans to match SCAT by year-end, while FlyArystan continues to expand separately with its own fleet
UzCargo cleared to send cargo directly to the UK
Uzbekistan Airports Cargo regained RA3 certification, confirming its right to prepare cargo and mail for shipment to the UK
The revalidation followed relocation of its cargo terminal, strengthening Uzbekistan’s role in global logistics
Anuvu to support in-flight satellite connectivity in Uzbekistan
US provider Anuvu will partner with UZ-SAT to introduce satellite-based Wi-Fi and entertainment systems on Uzbek airlines
SES satellites will support the rollout, with Uzbekistan Airways preparing to receive its first A321neos factory-equipped for high-speed connectivity in 2026
Other News
New multimodal cargo route launched in Kashgar
A train from Shaoxing, Zhejiang Province in eastern China arrived in Kashgar, Xinjiang in northwest China, with cargo to be trucked via the Torugart checkpoint into Uzbekistan on 28 September 2025
This marked the opening of a new rail–road multimodal route through Kashgar, joining 16 existing corridors connecting China and Central Asia
Kazakhstan is set to complete new railway to Uzbekistan
Construction is underway in Turkistan region on the 152-km Darbaza–Maktaaral line, which will connect Kazakhstan with Uzbekistan and expand cargo transport opportunities to regional and global markets by 2026
The railway, costing 286 billion tenge, is planned to open in Turkistan region in December 2026
