Cargolux is set to resume operations at Astana Airport

  • Luxembourg-based cargo giant Cargolux plans to operate up to two daily flights through Kazakhstan's capital, initially utilizing its Boeing 747 freighters for technical stops, refueling, and maintenance

  • The long-term cooperation program includes the potential launch of full-scale commercial cargo flights, which is expected to significantly boost the logistics capabilities and transit cargo turnover of Astana Airport


Almaty Airport secures international IATA safety certification

  • Almaty International Airport has officially achieved ISAGO certification, becoming the second aviation hub in Kazakhstan to confirm its ground handling procedures meet stringent global safety and quality standards

  • The accreditation coincides with the signing of a major investment agreement for the Horizon project, which will allocate substantial funds toward the comprehensive modernization and development of the airport through the end of 2029


Kyrgyz cargo carrier Aerostan reports annual freight volumes

  • Kyrgyz cargo airline Aerostan transported 11,800 tons of freight across 554 flights in 2025, representing a decrease from the previous two years but remaining nearly double its 2022 volumes

  • Operating a fleet of three Boeing 747-200 freighters, the airline maintains a broad global network, with its top markets including the UAE, China, Pakistan, Turkey, and Brazil

Rail freight volumes between Kazakhstan and Russia continue to grow

  • Railway freight traffic between Kazakhstan and Russia showed positive growth in 2025, driven primarily by a significant increase in mutual transit operations following a bilateral intergovernmental agreement

  • This upward trend has continued into the first four months of 2026, with substantial volume increases reported for both the export of Kazakh goods transiting through Russia and Russian cargo moving into or through Kazakhstan
