Passenger traffic surged at Tashkent International Airport
Tashkent Islam Karimov International Airport handled 9.965 million passengers in 2025 marking 14.2% year-on-year increase, while flight operations grew 15% highlighting continued growth in Uzbekistan’s main aviation hub
International routes accounted for the majority of traffic reinforcing Tashkent’s position as the country’s largest airport, significantly ahead of Samarkand International Airport which served just over 1.5 million passengers
Uzbekistan is set to open civil aviation university
Uzbekistan’s president announced the launch of a Civil Aviation University aimed at training pilots, maintenance technicians and airport operations specialists to support the national fleet projected to grow from 105 to 120 aircraft in 2026
The initiative addresses a long-standing shortage of aviation engineers and technicians, complementing existing programs at Tashkent State Transport University and strengthening the country’s civil aviation and maintenance capabilities
Qanot Sharq launched direct passenger flights between Tashkent and Dubai
Uzbekistan-based carrier Qanot Sharq Airlines launched direct passenger flights ex Tashkent, Uzbekistan to Dubai, UAE on 25 December 2025
The airline operates the route five times weekly VV using Airbus A321neo aircraft, serving Al Maktoum International Airport (DWC) and providing travelers an alternative gateway to the UAE

Uzbekistan and Tajikistan test new multimodal corridor
Uzbekistan and Tajikistan began testing a new multimodal transport corridor linking China with European markets via Central Asia, Iran and Turkey aimed at strengthening regional logistics connectivity
The pilot phase started with a convoy of 10 cargo trucks traveling from Uzbekistan through Tajikistan to China marking the practical implementation of bilateral transport agreements
